Discover Your Physical Potential with Data-Driven Routines

Pilates

Building Strength from the Inside Out

Your core is more than your abs, it’s the network of muscles across your abdomen, back, hips, pelvic floor, and diaphragm that stabilizes every movement you make. Our Pilates Studio welcomes first-timers and experienced practitioners alike, with instructors who prioritize quality of movement over simply finishing a workout.

  • Improve core strength and stability
  • Enhance posture and body awareness
  • Increase flexibility and mobility
  • Reduce or prevent back pain
  • Build a stronger foundation for every other workout

Building Strength from the Inside Out

Great movement begins long before you lift a weight.

Every time you reach overhead, climb a flight of stairs, swing a tennis racquet, pick up a child, or simply stand tall, dozens of muscles work together to stabilize your body before the larger muscles create movement. That foundation is often called your core, but it’s much more than your abdominal muscles. It includes the muscles of your abdomen, back, hips, pelvic floor, and diaphragm, all working together to create stability, balance, posture, and efficient movement.

Pilates is one of the most effective ways to develop that foundation. At AEGLE, we don’t think of Pilates as a separate form of exercise. We think of it as movement education.

The Science

Pilates emphasizes controlled movement, precision, breathing, alignment, and coordination. Rather than isolating individual muscles, it teaches your body to move as an integrated system.

Research suggests Pilates may improve core strength, balance, posture, flexibility, movement quality, and body awareness while helping reduce certain types of back pain and improving functional movement. A lot of athletes incorporate Pilates into their training too, since improving movement efficiency often translates into better performance and fewer injuries. Pilates isn’t about making movement harder. It’s about making movement better, and when your body moves more efficiently, everything else, from strength training and running to golf, tennis, skiing, and everyday life, gets a little easier.

The AEGLE Difference

Our dedicated Pilates Studio serves a wide range of members, from those taking their very first class to experienced practitioners refining their technique. Every class is led by highly trained instructors who emphasize quality of movement rather than just completing a workout. Whether your goal is improving posture, recovering after an injury, increasing flexibility, developing core strength, or enhancing athletic performance, our instructors help you move with more confidence and precision.

Pilates also complements nearly everything else we offer at AEGLE. Many members combine it with strength training, cardiovascular exercise, performance coaching, recovery therapies, or massage to build a balanced fitness program that develops strength, mobility, stability, and resilience together.

What Does the Research Say?

Pilates has been studied extensively in rehabilitation, sports medicine, and exercise science. Research supports its effectiveness for improving core strength, balance, flexibility, posture, and movement quality, while additional studies continue to explore its role in athletic performance, injury prevention, chronic low back pain, and healthy aging. Like all forms of exercise, the greatest benefits come from consistent practice and progressive instruction.

Is It Right for You?

Pilates might be especially valuable if you’re looking to improve core strength and stability, enhance posture and body awareness, increase flexibility and mobility, reduce or prevent back pain, improve balance and coordination, support recovery after an injury, enhance athletic performance, or simply build a stronger foundation for every other form of exercise you do.

Whether you’re an experienced athlete, someone returning to exercise, or just looking for a thoughtful way to move your body, Pilates provides a foundation that supports lifelong health and performance.

Important Considerations

Pilates can be adapted for nearly every age and fitness level. Our instructors modify exercises to accommodate injuries, medical conditions, pregnancy, and individual movement limitations, helping make sure each member is challenged appropriately while exercising safely.

When appropriate, Pilates instruction may also be coordinated with your physician, performance coach, or rehabilitation program as part of a comprehensive approach to your health.

Why We Offer It

We believe great movement is learned at AEGLE. Strength matters, cardiovascular fitness matters, and recovery matters, but before any of those can reach their full potential, your body needs a strong, stable foundation. Pilates helps build that foundation. It’s not about doing more. It’s about moving better.

Our Pilates Studio is available in several ways to fit your goals. Members may join as Pilates-only members, enjoying access to the studio without a full club membership. Existing AEGLE members may also add Pilates as an à la carte service, while Transformation and Enlightenment members enjoy Pilates as part of their membership benefits. No matter how you choose to participate, our goal is the same: helping you move with greater strength, confidence, and control so every other part of your life becomes a little easier.

No single workout creates lasting health on its own. Real wellness comes from combining evidence-based medicine, intelligent exercise, thoughtful recovery, proper nutrition, restorative sleep, meaningful education, and a supportive community into something personal, something that helps you feel, function, and perform at your best.
