WELLNESS THERAPIES
Cold Plunge & Contrast Therapy
Scientific Modalities Built for Total-Body Restoration
Recovery is not the absence of training, it is the active process of rebuilding. Reduce inflammation, restore circulation, and calm your nervous system with treatments designed to help you bounce back stronger.
Heat & Cold Therapy
Cold Plunge & Contrast Therapy
Heat and cold are forms of controlled stress that train your body to recover, adapt, and become more resilient, physically and mentally. Choose our 39-degree plunge for full cold-immersion recovery, or the 50-degree plunge paired with our traditional sauna for a more approachable contrast experience. Our team teaches breathing and exposure techniques, and neoprene gloves and booties are available to make the cold easier to tolerate as you build comfort.
- Recover more comfortably after exercise
- Reduce muscle soreness after training
- Build greater tolerance to discomfort
- Relax tight muscles
- Feel more energized and refreshed
Cold Plunge & Contrast Therapy
Sometimes the greatest growth begins with a little discomfort.
Your body is remarkably adaptable. Every time you exercise, lift a weight, or go for a run, you’re placing it under stress, and given the chance to recover, it responds by getting stronger. Heat and cold work on that same principle. They’re forms of controlled environmental stress that nudge your body toward adapting, recovering, and becoming more resilient.
At AEGLE, we don’t think of cold plunges as an endurance contest or a social media dare. We think of them as another tool, one that can help you recover, build resilience, and discover you’re capable of more than you might have assumed.
The Science
Cold water immersion is one of the most effective and well-established recovery tools in sports medicine. Elite athletes have relied on it for decades to reduce post-exercise soreness and speed up recovery after demanding training, and for many of them, it’s the first thing they reach for after a particularly tough session or competition.
But recovery is only part of the story. Stepping into cold water triggers an immediate stress response: your heart rate climbs, your breathing quickens, and every instinct tells you to get out. Learning to slow your breath, relax, and stay calm anyway is a skill, and one that tends to carry over. Many people find that practicing cold immersion helps them stay composed in other physically and emotionally stressful moments too. Cold exposure becomes a chance to practice resilience, not just in the body but in the mind.
Heat works differently. Traditional sauna bathing increases circulation, promotes sweating, relaxes muscles, and puts a mild, temporary challenge on the cardiovascular system, one that a lot of people find deeply restorative. Contrast therapy combines both experiences by alternating heat and cold. As your body keeps adapting to the shifting temperatures, blood vessels dilate and constrict, circulation changes, and your nervous system has to respond efficiently and repeatedly. Members often leave a contrast session feeling energized, refreshed, and unusually clear-headed.
The AEGLE Difference
Most people assume cold plunges are only for elite athletes or people with extraordinary willpower. We don’t see it that way.
Plenty of people dislike the cold, not because they’re weak, but because their nervous system reads it as a threat. Like any skill, cold tolerance can be built with the right coaching and enough practice, which is exactly why we teach it. Our team helps members work through breathing techniques, relaxation strategies, progressive exposure, and practical tools like neoprene gloves and booties to make cold immersion more approachable. The goal was never to prove how tough you are. It’s to help you find out your body can adapt more than you’d expect.
Members at AEGLE have access to two different cold plunge experiences. Our 39-degree plunge is built for those seeking the full benefits of traditional cold water immersion and athletic recovery. Our 50-degree plunge is paired with our traditional sauna for contrast therapy, offering a gentler, more approachable entry point for anyone new to cold exposure or who prefers moving back and forth between heat and cold. You’re also welcome to use the 50-degree plunge on its own for a milder cold immersion experience.
What Does the Research Say?
Cold water immersion is one of the better-studied recovery techniques in sports medicine, with demonstrated benefits for reducing post-exercise muscle soreness. Research into its effects on metabolism, nervous system regulation, mental resilience, immune function, and longevity is still evolving.
Traditional sauna bathing has been linked to a range of health benefits too, particularly around cardiovascular health, recovery, and overall well-being, though researchers are still working out the exact mechanisms behind them. As with every therapy at AEGLE, we follow the science as it develops while recognizing that everyone responds a little differently.
Is It Right for You?
Heat and cold therapy might be worth exploring if you’re looking to recover more comfortably after exercise, reduce muscle soreness after training, practice resilience under controlled physical stress, build a greater tolerance for discomfort, relax tight muscles, feel more energized, or simply improve how well you handle heat or cold.
Plenty of members are surprised to find that the biggest benefit isn’t physical at all. It’s learning they can stay calm, keep breathing, and think clearly even when their body is asking them to quit.
Important Considerations
Cold immersion and contrast therapy are safe for many healthy adults, but they aren’t right for everyone. Anyone with unstable cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, certain heart rhythm disorders, severe Raynaud’s phenomenon, cold urticaria, significant peripheral vascular disease, or other conditions affecting temperature regulation should talk with our medical team before participating.
We also recommend caution during pregnancy and for anyone recovering from a serious illness or injury. Before starting any temperature-based therapy, our team will help figure out whether it’s a good fit for your individual health goals and history.
Why We Offer It
We don’t choose therapies at AEGLE because they’re trendy. We choose them because they help people feel better.
Exercise teaches your muscles to adapt. Recovery teaches your body to rebuild. Heat and cold teach your nervous system that discomfort isn’t always danger. Together, these experiences build a more resilient body, and often, a more resilient mind along with it.
No single therapy builds lasting health alone. Real wellness comes from combining evidence-based medicine, intelligent exercise, thoughtful recovery, proper nutrition, restorative sleep, meaningful education, and a supportive community into something personal, something that helps you feel, function, and perform at your best.
